Dale Costello of Mountain Home, who was arrested in mid-August last year when residents of a home along Rodeo Court returned after a weekend away and found Costello sleeping on their couch clad only in his underwear and wrapped in a blanket, pled guilty to charges against him and was given six years probation during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

In addition, Costello will spend 10 days in the county jail. He was allowed to report to the jail April 22nd to begin serving his sentence to allow him time to deal with health problems.

Responding officers reported the 51-year-old Costello entered the residence by breaking a large dining room window.

While in the home, Costello admitted to helping himself to food and drink. He told officers he had broken into the house because he was thirsty and someone was “out to get him.”

In court Thursday, Costello described himself as being in “survival mode” when he broke into the house.

Costello was also ordered to pay $1,200 in restitution.
