A rural Mountain Home woman, 34-year-old Beverly Ann Rogers, is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center without bond for her role in allegedly assisting a parolee avoid capture.
According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, the parolee, 34-year-old Brandon James Junek, fled from officers during a traffic stop on Cotter Road, near the White River, early Wednesday afternoon. He was a passenger in the vehicle being driven by Rogers. A manhunt ensued, and he was apprehended late Thursday afternoon.
Officers with the Arkansas Department of Community Correction began conducting a follow-up investigation at Rogers’ place of employment Thursday where she was interviewed.
During the course of the investigation, officers learned Rogers drove to a house on Marion County Road 7031, which is near Cotter, after being released from the initial traffic stop. Junek joined her there later in the evening, arriving on foot. A third party then drove to the residence, picked up Junek and Rogers, and drove them to Rogers’ residence on McBride Lane in Baxter County.
Montgomery says information indicates Rogers has two prior convictions in Marion County in 2009 cases for felony drug offenses, as well as an additional two convictions in Baxter County in 2010 for felony drug offenses.
Rogers wasn’t supposed to be living on McBride Lane. She was supposed to have been living at a residence on Ray Street in Mountain Home, according to her parole plan.
Several officers from Arkansas Community Correction went to the house on McBride Lane Thursday afternoon to find Junek. Upon their arrival, they found the door was barricaded. Rogers was brought to the house and assisted them in gaining entry.
Once officers entered the residence, Junek was discovered hiding behind a couch. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Rogers was also taken into custody and transported to the detention center.
She is being held without bond for a parole violation. She also faces a felony charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution.
Junek is being held without bond for a parole violation and on outstanding arrest warrants.
The pair is scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court.
