Tardiff and Gabe Gilley received the Friends of Quiz Bowl scholarship. Team coach Lisa Coots says this is the first time both recipients have been from the same school.
It is a blind selection process.
In a quiz bowl, a series of questions are asked. Players must display their knowledge in literature, math, science, history, art, music and economics. Teams from across the state compete for the chance to represent the Natural State in national tournaments.
The AGQBA is an organization working for a competition that works under the umbrella of the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA). Academic competitions are regulated in much the same way as athletic events.
