A number of people entered guilty pleas and were sentenced to 48 months probation in unrelated cases during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court last Thursday.

Miranda Collins of Flippin was charged with possession of methamphetamine as the result of a traffic stop on State Highway 126 South in early November last year. The 35-year-old Collins was stopped after a Baxter County deputy sheriff saw her vehicle had a non-operating headlight. Collins gave the deputy permission to search her purse. He found two small plastic bags containing methamphetamine.

Collins was sentenced under provisions of Act 346, meaning if she stays out of trouble during her probation period, she can petition the court to have her record sealed.

Kiara Faye Howell of Mountain Home was arrested after a Mountain Home Police officer found her to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop in mid-March. The 18-year-old Howell had the drugs and paraphernalia concealed in various places, including a boot she was wearing.

Howell was also sentenced under provisions of Act 346.

Darrell Gene Ward entered a guilty plea to drug-related charges. He was arrested in late November last year after Mountain Home Police responded to the report of a theft at a local motel.

When they arrived, the door to a room was slightly ajar, and they saw the 42-year-old Ward remove a glass smoking pipe from a black pouch and take several hits before returning it to the pouch. When officers entered the room, they found drugs and drug paraphernalia, including methamphetamine and marijuana.

Lacy Wallace of Calico Rock was arrested in early November last year after she was found in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop. The stop was originally made when a Mountain Home Police officer observed Wallace’s vehicle had a non-working rear brake light. During the stop, a drug dog was used to check the vehicle. The dog gave a “full alert” at the driver’s side window.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the 35-year-old Wallace admitted to having methamphetamine and Oxycontin, along with items used in ingesting drugs, in her possession.

She was also sentenced under the provisions of Act 346.

Jayson Sherer of Bull Shoals was arrested in early November last year when Baxter County Sheriff’s deputies got a report of a vehicle driving erratically. A deputy got behind the 44-year-old Sheerer’s vehicle and observed it weaving. The vehicle then crossed into another lane of traffic almost sideswiping another motorist.

Sherer’s vehicle was stopped and a small amount of what was described as “suspected” methamphetamine residue, along with various items of drug paraphernalia, were found.
