A duo from Mountain Home, 34-year-old Crystal Sanford and 55-year-old Andrew James Esposito, were arrested Sunday after Mountain Home Police were alerted of a female allegedly attempting to obtain narcotics.
According to the probable cause affidavit, with a description of the vehicle the two were traveling in and its license plate number, officers arrived on the scene where they found a female, later identified as Sanford, in the passenger’s seat making a lot of movements and appearing to conceal an object.
When Sanford was advised of the complaint law enforcement received, she immediately replied, “We aren’t trying to sell Hydros.” Hydros is the street name for hydrocodone.
Officers also observed a male, later identified as Esposito, in the driver’s seat of the vehicle with a pouch in his lap. He appeared very nervous and was making excited movements.
After Esposito exited the vehicle, he was asked about the content of the pouch and told officers he did not know, having just found it.
Upon examination, officers located a glass methamphetamine pipe, along with four hydrocodone and three alprazolam pills. During Esposito’s arrest, a syringe was found in his right pocket. An inventory of the vehicle revealed a syringe with a clear liquid field testing positive for methamphetamine. A pill bottle with additional meth and 12 hydrocodone pills was located in a pair of sweatpants in the back seat belonging to Sanford.
The two were arrested and transported to the Baxter County Detention Center. Sanford and Esposito have been charged with felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine and hydrocodone. In addition, Esposito faces felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, alprazolam, and possession of drug paraphernalia for use of ingestion of methamphetamine.
Bonds for the two were set at $2,500 each. They are set to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court later this month.
