A rural Mountain Home man, 21-year-old Ryan Joel Anderson, has been re-arrested on charges related to domestic violence, after a misdemeanor charge from a previous arrest was elevated to a felony crime by 14th District Prosecuting Attorney David Ethredge.
Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says Anderson was first arrested on June 29th, 2017 when deputies responded to a disturbance on County Road 28. Anderson had allegedly attacked his pregnant girlfriend by punching her in the nose and throwing her down during an altercation, as well as taking her phone from her and throwing it across the room when she tried to call for help. He was charged with a felony count of second-degree domestic battery and released after posting a $5,000 bond, pending an appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court.
Deputies next arrested Anderson April 13th when they responded to a second disturbance call at the same address. Again, the girlfriend alleged Anderson had hit her in the mouth and shoved her around, then took her phone from her when she tried to call for help. Anderson was charged with the misdemeanor counts of third-degree domestic battery and interference with emergency communications. After being booked into the Baxter County Detention Center, Anderson was released with an appearance scheduled in district court.
Montgomery says after sheriffs investigators reviewed the case with the prosecuting attorney, it was decided to upgrade the misdemeanor battery charge from the second incident to felony level, and a bench warrant from the circuit court was issued for Anderson’s arrest. The warrant was served Thursday, and Anderson has been booked again into the detention center on felony charges of second-degree and third-degree domestic battery, as well as two misdemeanor counts of interference with emergency communications.
He is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond and is set to appear in circuit court to answer to the charges.
