Courtesy of Reverb.comHeart‘s Nancy Wilson, The B-52s‘ Kate Pierson and Bonnie Tyler are among the many artists taking part in an auction benefiting Girls Rock Camp Alliance, an organization supporting summer camp and music education programs for female, transgender and gender non-conforming youth.
Various female musicians are donating stage-used equipment, signed memorabilia and more to the sale, which gets underway Thursday, May 10, at Reverb.com.
Wilson has contributed a Boss BF-3 Flanger guitar pedal to the auction, while Pierson has donated a Line 6 Variax 700 guitar, a signed photo and autographed stage toys. Tyler is offering a microphone she used in concert.
Other artists who have contributed items to the sale include Dolly Parton, Lady Gaga, Melissa Etheridge, Amy Ray of Indigo Girls, Lita Ford and many more.
In conjunction with the auction, some of the participating musicians have shared tidbits of advice and encouragement for young people interested in playing music.
“Every person you play music with will bring you new learning,” says Wilson. “Every guitar sound you play will bring you new ideas. Keep playing, keep learning, keep creating.”
Pierson comments, “Let your own voice be heard! You can be inspired by other artists, but don’t be afraid to be different — find your musical path of heart, lyrically and vocally.”
