A Marion County man, 29-year-old John Archer of Flippin, has been charged with terroristic threatening after he phoned law enforcement and advised he wanted to go to jail before he harmed his wife.

According to the probable cause affidavit, law enforcement found Archer reportedly highly intoxicated at his residence Sunday along Hard Times Circle in Flippin. He said he had threatened to shoot his wife with his pistol he had in the bathroom.

Archer’s wife told the officers she was sleeping in the bedroom with their two children when her husband entered the room, grabbed her by the leg while yelling and told her he was going to get his gun, shoot her and then “slit her throat with a knife.” She gathered the children and left the bedroom. Archer confirmed he had made the statements.

A .40 caliber handgun was located in its box in the bathroom, along with a box of ammunition.

Archer was transported to the Marion County Detention Center. His bond was set at $10,000.
