There were two races in the Stone County preferential primary, and one race will continue with a runoff.
Johnny Rose and Jerry Linville will face off again in a few weeks in the Republican race for Stone County sheriff. Rose ended up with 382 votes for 39 percent, and Linville had 365 votes for 37 percent. Sonja Anderson-Eversmeyer was third with 23 percent.
Chuck Melton narrowly won the Democratic primary for District 3 Constable. Melton finished with 25 votes for 52 percent to defeat Darrell Willis 23 votes for 48 percent.
