KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot were not the only ones to be affected by lightning last weekend. The Ozark County Times reports a Sunday morning thunderstorm produced another lightning strike knocking out radio communications at the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, taking out phone lines and zapping an office copier.

Office administrator Gail Reich says the lightning strike skipped around the office and disabled some systems while leaving others intact. Reich says the 9-1-1 system was not lost because it’s on a different system, and they were also able to use handheld radios and cell phones. The lightning did take out the interoffice phone system preventing jail inmates from communicating with visitors.

Ozark County Emergency Management Director Brett Meints contacted the Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management which sent two staff members and three communications specialists to assist the sheriff’s office with the restoration of its communications systems. In addition, the OEM team brought its Region D Mobile Communications support vehicle to assist with dispatch calls.
