Capitol/UMeNeil Diamond recently helped fans celebrate July 4 by debuting a clip of himself singing his 1980 hit “America” from his upcoming Hot August Night III concert video. Now People.com is exclusively offering another advance clip from the release.
The website has posted a video of Diamond performing his signature tune, “Sweet Caroline,” to an adoring and enthusiastic audience. The performance, which took place in August 2012 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, features Diamond leading the crowd in an extended sing-along of his 1969 hit, which includes a false ending and a reprise of the chorus.
As previously reported, Hot August Night III will be released on August 17 in a variety of configurations, including a double-CD collection, and two-CD/DVD and two-CD/Blu-ray sets. Digital and streaming options are also available.
The concert documented in the collection marked the 40th anniversary of the shows Neil played at the same venue in 1972 that were recorded for his legendary Hot August Night live album.
In January of this year, Diamond announced that he was retiring from touring because he’d been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. In June, Neil told Billboard that he was writing music for a new project, and that he hoped one day to be able to return to touring.
