TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) _ A state psychologist in Arkansas says a man charged with
killing his girlfriend is unfit to stand trial.
Court documents show the psychologist found 58-year-old Tony Taylor has an IQ
of 57, doesn’t understand the charges against him and is unable to assist his
attorney.
Prosecuting Attorney Stephanie Potter Black told the Texarkana Gazette the report “flies in the face of logic” and said she will appeal.
Taylor is charged with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering
with evidence in the March 2017 death of 35-year-old Crystal Reed.
He has pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors say Taylor fatally stabbed Reed, cleaned up their apartment and
buried the body in a neighboring county.
Police say Taylor led investigators to Reed’s body after being questioned about her disappearance.
