The first winter storm of the season is expected to affect the Twin Lakes Area this weekend and it could bring quite a bit of snow. A winter storm watch has been issued for all of Northern Arkansas and Southern Missouri from late Friday night through late Saturday night as 4 to 6 inches of snow and sleet are expected.
National Weather Service meteorologist John Lewis says the storm system will form along the Gulf Coast and push precipitation into the area Friday night.
Lewis says forecasters are confident heavy winter precipitation will fall in the area but the type of precipitation is still tricky to forecast.
The weather service says travel in the region will be very difficult and significant reductions in visibility are possible.
