The Christmas season began in Mountain Home on Friday. The annual Myrtle Wood Chamberlain Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was held at the Baxter County Courthouse square.
The Call co-founder Mary Carol Pederson gave the Christmas message as she talked about the importance of the organization's mission especially during the holiday season. Pederson pointed out to the crowd there are 38 foster children in Baxter County, but only 16 foster families to care for them.
Pederson went on to say the Christmas season is not just about celebrating traditions.
Pederson wrapped up her message by announcing The Call of Baxter County will host a Christmas toy drive for children in foster care Dec. 15th from 11:00 until 3:00. For more information, send an email to email@example.com.
