The Mountain Home High School band had 26 students qualify for the Region 6 All-Region Honor Bands during the weekend based on a competitive audition of prepared 8:2 scales and sight reading new music. Mountain Home had the third highest number of students qualify for the bands out of 20 schools participating in the region.
Bentonville and Bentonville West had the most. Mountain Home was followed by Rogers, Heritage, Pea Ridge and Harrison.
Band director Tom Chetnik says 11 Mountain Home students qualified for Arkansas All-State Band auditions set for Feb. 2nd on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
These students will be joined by the junior high students who qualified in December as they travel to Bentonville West High School in Centerton this coming weekend. They’ll rehearse Friday and Saturday and perform in one of the four All-Region Honor Bands Saturday afternoon at 2:00.
