New executive director selected for Area Agency on Aging

The Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas has a new executive director, after promoting its chief operations officer to the top slot.Board of Directors Chair Jerry Hunton announced Tuesday Brad Bailey, who has worked for the agency for more than 19 years and previously served as its director of finance, will assume the duties of executive director on Feb. 1st.

Bailey will replace Jerry Mitchell, who announced his retirement in late November. Mitchell had been at the helm since 1998.

The Area Agency on Aging provides a variety of services for seniors, military veterans and persons with disabilities in a nine-county area of Northwest Arkansas, including Baxter, Marion, Boone, Newton and Searcy counties.

Services include senior activity centers, adult day centers, meals on wheels, and in-home services and assistance.

Board members include Baxter County representative Joe Dillard, Marion County representatives George Lewis and Ron Proctor, Boone County representative Debbie Johnson, Newton County representative Shannon Willis, and Searcy County representative Donald Ragland.

The Area Agency on Aging, headquartered in Harrison, is a non-profit organization, offering services for 39 years. It has over 630 employees, 20 senior activity centers, 12 senior housing complexes, and nine client service offices providing in-home services and case management.
