BRMC launches new urgent care app

As technology continues to change our lives daily, medicine continues to evolve and Baxter Regional Medical Center has launched a new urgent care app taking health care to a new level for Twin Lakes Area residents. The Baxter Regional Care app is now available, giving patients a chance to have an appointment with a healthcare professional without having to go to a doctor's office by using your smart phone, tablet or computer. Healthcare providers will be able to assess, diagnose and treat patients' conditions via a video visit 24 hours a day,  seven days a week.

Ron Peterson, president and CEO of Baxter Regional, says the new app is not a replacement for the emergency room, but rather for other medical ailments and is very convenient.

Peterson says there is a network of physicians around the country who will see patients on the app, but some local medical providers are also included.

Local health providers will be listed first when they are available.

The cost for an appointment on the app is $69. Pugsley says insurance companies are coming on board with more people using telehealth options.
