The body of a missing Newton County man was located less than a mile from his residence. According to the Harrison Daily Times, Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler says the body of 65-year-old Doug Shaddox of Stringtown was located Monday after being missing for 2 1/2 weeks.
Shaddox was last seen Jan. 18th near a family member's residence, but his vehicle was located at his residence. Sheriff Wheeler says Shaddox may have been experiencing a medical emergency when last seen.
Shaddox's body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for an autopsy. Sheriff Wheeler says his office was assisted in the investigation by the Arkansas State Police, the National Park Service and Newton County Coroner's Office.
