Rape, residential burglary charges filed against Searcy County man

A Searcy County man, 44-year-old Israel Salas Jr. of Marshall, has been arrested and charged with felony counts of rape and residential burglary.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Friday, Salas is alleged to have entered a home on Canaan Road on Jan. 28th.

Offices responded to a residence after the victim called 911. She told law enforcement she had locked both of her doors and was putting on her pajamas when Salas appeared in her bedroom.

She says she was startled by his appearance and asked him to leave, but he refused.

Salas allegedly admitted to officers he did enter the woman's residence without her knowledge or consent. He allegedly told law enforcement the victim said she did not want to have sex with him but he felt her actions toward him "in his mind said otherwise."

Salas's bond was set at $20,000, and he is to have no contact with the victim.
