The Mountain Home freshmen girls' basketball team watched their season come to an end Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Northeast Arkansas Junior District Tournament at Annie Camp Junior High School in Jonesboro. The Junior Lady Bombers fell to the host Lady Whirlwinds 37-22. Annie Norcross led Mountain Home with 15 points. The Junior Lady Bombers' final record is 13-14.
Cotter was able to leave Decatur with both championship trophies of the 2A-1 Junior District Tournament.
The Junior Lady Warriors began the outing by edging out Flippin 40-37. Cotter was led by Kate Cheek with 15 points.
Cotter followed up in the boys' final by squeaking by Yellville-Summit 39-37. Hudson Adams was the Junior Warriors' top scorer with 15 points, and Justin Martin added 11.
The 1A-2 Junior District Tournament came to an end Saturday at Omaha.
Norfork's boys ended their season as district runners-up as they lost to Izard County 58-40. Gunner Gleghorn paced the Junior Cougars with 20 points, Denton Riley scored 15, and Jude Everett chipped in 11. Izard County wraps up the year at 17-7.
Viola came up short in the girls' title contest. The Junior Lady Longhorns fell to Western Grove by a final of 50-40.
On the high school level, Mountain Home Christian Academy's boys were able to win a tournament this weekend in Lebanon.
The Eagles' first game was on Friday. Mountain Home Christian began by defeating Rolla 88-61.
MHCA was able to dominate the semifinals even further. The Eagles routed RUSH by a score of 78-44.
MHCA took the title game by beating the host Rockets 72-54. The Eagles were led by Matt Woods and Cooper Long with 19 points each.
