Texas man killed in 1-vehicle accident near Ava; Springfield woman charged with DWI

An alleged drunk driving incident in Douglas County led to the death of a Texas man. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 32-year-old Daniel Bodrie of Corinth was pronounced dead Friday night at the scene of the one-vehicle accident 100 yards outside the Ava city limits, and 30-year-old Ashley Kratky of Springfield faces a felony charge of driving while intoxicated involving the death of another.

Kratky was the driver of a vehicle traveling eastbound on Missouri Highway 14, and Bodrie was her passenger. Kratky’s vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, became airborne, hit a utility pole, began to overturn and struck a tree. Kratky was transported to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield with what were described as serious injuries.

Kratky’s vehicle was totaled in the 9:40 p.m. accident.
