Traffic stop leads to drug charges, probation for Gassville man

A Gassville man changed his plea to guilty on drug charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and was sentenced to four years probation.

Twenty-seven-year-old Justin Thompson was stopped by a Mountain Home police officer for traffic infractions in August last year, including having a license plate belonging on another vehicle.

After the stop, Thompson and his vehicle were both searched and marijuana and methamphetamine, as well as paraphernalia used to ingest drugs, were found.

Thompson was sentenced under provisions of Act 346, referred to as the first offenders law, meaning if he stays out of trouble during the time he is on probation, he can petition the courts to have his record sealed.
