It took a Marion County Circuit Court jury about an hour late Wednesday to find 40-year-old Daniel Campbell of Harrison not guilty of a felony charge of sexual assault.

The decision by the jury of seven men and five women followed a three-day trial in Yellville with Circuit Judge John Putman presiding.

According to the brief, three-paragraph probable cause affidavit, the former youth minister at Pyatt Baptist Church was alleged to have had a sexual relationship with a female who attended his church during the summer and fall of 2016 when the victim was 15 years old.

In August 2017, an Arkansas State Police special agent attempted to extract information from the alleged victim’s cellphone. He was only able to obtain a partial extraction, meaning any deleted files were not accessible.

Text messages located between the alleged victim and Campbell were suggestive of an inappropriate relationship between the church volunteer and a minor.

In September 2017, the alleged victim reportedly told investigators details of several incidents in their inappropriate relationship.

Campbell was represented by attorney Phillip Moon of Harrison.
