National forest fire managers continue conducting prescribed burns in areas across the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest.
Prescribed burns expected to occur Wednesday include 2,750 acres in Baxter and Stone counties in the Mountain Home vicinity, 1,832 acres in Stone County in the Fifty Six area, both in the Sylamore Ranger District, and 1,944 acres in Newton County in the Lurton vicinity in the Big Pine Ranger District.
A prescribed fire is one ignited by highly trained fire personnel under specified fuel and weather conditions to achieve specific resource objectives.
