Area well represented on ASM Basketball Super Teams

The Twin Lakes Area is very well represented on the Arkansas Sports Media Super Teams which were released Tuesday. The teams are voted on by members of the media from across all of Arkansas.

On the girl’s side, Whitlee Layne of Norfork was selected to the first team while Reagan Rapert of Melbourne and Kaley Shipman of Mountain View made the second teams.

On the boy’s teams, Justus Cooper of Izard County was named to the first team.

Whitlee Layne, Norfork scored 3,626 career points, 2nd all-time in state history. Averaged 22.9 points per game this season. Helped led the Lady Panthers to a 36-5 record falling in the quarterfinals of the Class 1A State Tournament to eventual state runner-up Rural Special.

Elauna Eaton, Nettleton 16.2 ppg, 1.8 apg., 4.6 rpg, 1.6 spg., 0.6 bpg. helped lead the Lady Raiders to a 25-3 record and to the quarterfinals of the Class 5A State Tournament where they fell 64-60 to eventual state champion Little Rock Christian

Jersey Wolfenbarger, FS Northside 15.7 ppg, 2.5 apg, 3.3 rpg, 1.3 spg, 0.4 bpg. Helped lead the Lady Bears to a state best 28-1 record and the Class 6A State Championship. Also was named the Class 6A State Tournament Most Valuable Player.

Isabella Higginbottom, Batesville 16.7 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.5 apg. shot 53 percent from the floor, 35 percent from behind the 3-point arc and 86 percent from the free throw line. helped lead the Lady Pioneers to a 30-3 record and the Class 4A State Championship. She was also named the Class 4A State Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Sara Bershers, Fort Smith Northside 11.6 ppg, 3.7 apg, 6.9 rpg, 1.3 spg, 1.9 bpg. Helped lead the Lady Bears to a state best 28-1 record and the Class 6A State Championship.

Taylor Griffin, Batesville 20.8 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 0.3 bpg, 3.0 spg, 2.1 apg. helped lead the Lady Pioneers to a 30-3 record and the Class 4A State Championship

Kaley Shipman, Mountain View helped lead the Lady Yellowjackets to a 29-5 record and the Class 3A State Championship. Also was named the Class 3A State Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Destiny Salary, Jonesboro helped lead the Lady Hurricane to a 22-9 record and to the Class 5A State Championship game where they fell to LR Christian.

Reagan Rapert, Melbourne helped lead the Lady Bearkatz to a 30-4 record and the Class 2A State Championship. She was also named the Class 3A State Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Avery Felts, Jonesboro Westside 22.4 ppg/6 rpg/4 apg/2.5 spg. helped led the Warriors to a 23-9 record and to the semifinals of the Class 4A State Tournament where they fell to eventual state champ Magnolia.

Isaac McBride, Baptist Prep helped lead the Eagles to a 30-4 record and to the quarterfinals of the Class 3A State Tournament where they fell to eventual state champ Ashdown.

Jaylin Williams, Fort Smith Northside helped lead the Grizzlies to a 21-11 record and the Class 6A State Championship. Also was named the Class 6A State Tournament Most Valuable Player.

Justus Cooper, Izard County helped lead the Cougars to a state best 42-4 record and the Class 1A State Championship. He was also named the Most Valuable Player of the Class 1A State Tournament.

Chris Moore, West Memphis helped lead the Blue Devils to a 25-6 record and to the semifinals of the Class 5A State Tournament where they fell to eventual state runner-up Little Rock Hall.

SECOND TEAM

Allen Flanigan, Little Rock Parkview led the Patriots to an 18-10 record
Kevin Cross, Little Rock Mills 29 ppg, 6.0 rpg, led Comets to 29-5 record.
Derrian Ford, Magnolia helped lead Panthers to 24-5 record and the Class 4A State Championship.
Maalik Cartwright, Clarendon helped led the Lions to a 23-10 record
