MCA NashvilleGeorge Strait has set another personal record.

His latest album, Honky Tonk Time Machine, marks his 27th album to reach the #1 spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.  That extends his record of the most number one albums in the chart’s 50-year history, according to Billboard.

Willie Nelson and Garth Brooks are tied for second place behind George: Each have scored 17 number one albums on that chart.

Honky Tonk Time Machine sold 51,000 copies after its March 29 release, earning Strait the biggest sales week for a country album so far this year. It also landed at #4 on the all-genre Billboard 200 album chart.

This is Strait’s 30th studio album.  The lead single “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar” is making its way into the top 20 on the Country Airplay chart.

Strait will perform select shows throughout the year, including four dates of his Strait to Vegas residency at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 23 and 24 and December 6 and 7.
