Francis Specker/CBSBack in January, Kane Brown teamed with Grammy-nominated pop/R&B signer Khalid for a remix of Khalid’s song “Saturday Nights.” On Sunday night, the two performed it live live during the 2019 ACM Awards and speaking to Entertainment Tonight ahead of the event, Khalid praised the way he’s been accepted by the country community.

“I never would have imagined being at the ACMs, and it’s a blessing. It’s so cool, and not many artists get to say that they get to cross over,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “The country world has embraced me with just arms wide open. They been so nice to me, so it’s really good to be here.”

Khalid also feels that his song “Saturday Nights” belonged in the genre to begin with.

“I think about the remix with Kane Brown, that’s a country song to me,” he added. “And our voices meshed so well, so it’s so cool to see two different, completely different, worlds come together, and the balance is just amazing.”

The original version of “Saturday Nights” is featured on Khalid’s 2018 EP Suncity.  He just released his sophomore album Free Spirit.
