Park men, Freed-Hardeman women lead after 1st round of Battle of Big Creek

Several collegiate golfers began their two-day run Monday at Big Creek Golf and Country Club as the opening round of the Battle of Big Creek hosted by Williams Baptist University of Walnut Ridge is in the books.

Park University of Parkville, Missouri, is the at the top of the men’s team leaderboard with a total of 287. The College of the Ozarks is currently second at 313, Lyon College of Batesville is third at 319, Crowley’s Ridge College of Paragould is fourth at 322, Williams Baptist is fifth at 329, and Mineral Area College of Park Hill, Missouri, is sixth at 339. Park also has the two golfers at the top of the individual leaderboard as Wes Buntenbach shot a four-under-par 68, and Matt Percy had an even-par 72.

Freed-Hardeman University of Henderson, Tennessee, is the current team leader on the women’s side with a total of 326. The College of the Ozarks is second at 353, Park is third at 357, and Williams Baptist is fourth at 361. Chloe Kraus is at the top of the individual leaderboard with a first round total of 77, and Leeah Shipley of Park is sitting at two strokes back.

The final round will be held Tuesday with tee time scheduled for 9 a.m.
