A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a May 2018 burglary at the Highway 66 Country Mart in Oxley.
Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell says the second suspect, William Moppin III of Hot Springs, was arrested Tuesday. Moppin's age was not available.
Sheriff Cassell says in an interview with law officers, Moppin allegedly confessed to his involvement in the incident and laid out the events of the early morning hours last year when the convenience store was burglarized.
Moppin and former North Central Arkansas resident 42-year-old Jessie E. Fletcher, also known as Jessie Sears, are charged with illegally entering the store and taking cigarettes, as well as the entire inventory of lottery tickets.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the two men allegedly attempted to cash the lottery tickets at locations in Harrison, Harmon and Yellville.
Fletcher was allegedly seen on surveillance cameras in these locations appearing extremely nervous and leaves one of the stores when he realizes lottery officials have canceled the stolen tickets.
