Matt Baron/ShutterstockElton John must be quite the art lover, since he didn’t let a little thing like being unable to walk stop him from viewing the masterpieces at a famous Italian gallery.

On Thursday, the 72-year-old music legend posted a photo of himself sitting in a wheelchair, and captioned the image, “Not even a sprained ankle could keep me away from seeing one of the most beautiful museums in the world.”

The photo was taken at the famed Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy, which contains such iconic paintings as Botticelli‘s Birth of Venus, Titian‘s Venus of Urbino, Da Vinci‘s The Annunciation and Raphael‘s Madonna of the Goldfinch.

The gallery’s own Twitter feed retweeted the picture, along with a note that reads, “Unannounced visit to the #Uffizi by #EltonJohn who has lingered over the most important masterpieces. A sprained ankle couldn’t stop the #RocketMan!

Elton was in Italy ahead of the upcoming European leg of his farewell tour, which kicks off May 1 in Vienna, Austria, and wraps up July 7 in Lucca, Italy. In September, he’ll be back in North America for more shows.
