Viola man injured in ATV crash in Southern Missouri, facing multiple charges

A man from Viola was injured in an ATV accident in Southern Missouri Sunday afternoon and faces a multitude of charges. Thirty-one-year-old Dustin Helton of Viola was transported to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains for treatment of moderate injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Helton’s Honda ATV crossed the center of the roadway, and he fell off the vehicle. The accident occurred on County Road 7130, 10 miles from Caulfield in Howell County.

Helton was charged with felony counts of driving while revoked and driving while intoxicated and misdemeanor counts of failure to drive on the right side of the roadway resulting in an accident, unlawfully operating an all terrain vehicle on the highway, having no triangle on an all terrain vehicle and having no bicycle flag on an all terrain vehicle.
