NBC/Andrew LipovskyJimmy Fallon marked two historic releases on Thursday’s Tonight Show: the redacted version of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on the Russia investigation earlier that day, and The Rolling Stones‘ best-of compilation, Honk on Friday.
Fallon managed to tie the two releases together by venting his frustration over not being able to read the complete Mueller report with a parody of the Stones’ 1965 classic, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” titled, “(I Can’t Take No) Redactions,” backed by his Tonight Show house band, The Roots.
“I can’t take more, more redactions. I can’t read those Trump infractions. And I try, try to find, what they hide ‘neath the lines,” Fallon, using his best Mick Jagger voice, opened the song.
“I can’t get no Mueller memo!” he belted out in the chorus.
Another thing that ticked off Fallon was Wolf Blitzer revealing the report “with all this juicy information has more spots than a damn Dalmation.”
“No more redactions!” Fallon repeated over and over again to close the parody.
The Stones’ retrospective will be available in a three-CD or four-LP deluxe edition featuring 46 tracks, as well as a 20-track single-CD or two-LP version. Both versions boast at least one song from every studio album that the band released from 1971 through 2016.
The deluxe Honk offers 36 previously released tracks by the British rock legends, plus 10 bonus live performances recorded during the band’s recent stadium tours.
