Local baseball, softball teams in district tournaments Thursday

Baseball and softball make up the local Thursday schedule as several teams will be in postseason action.

The 1A-2 District Baseball Tournament gets underway at Izard County High School in Brockwell. Viola and Calico Rock get underway at 4 p.m., and Norfork faces the host Cougars at 6.
The 1A-1 District Tournament will begin at Bradley Park in Jasper. Ozark Mountain takes on Alpena at 4, and Lead Hill plays Deer at 6.
Mammoth Spring will start hosting the 1A-3 District Tournament. The Bears will be paired with Crowley’s Ridge Academy at 3:30 at Mammoth Spring State Park.
The semifinals of the 2A-3 District Tournament will be held at Melbourne. Salem gets started at 4:00 against Riverside, and the host Bearkatz face Bay at 6:30.
In other high school baseball, Bakersfield hosts Koshkonong for a doubleheader, Gainesville entertains Hartville, and Dora travels to Hurley.

Izard County will also be the host for the 1A-2 District Softball Tournament. Viola takes on the Lady Cougars at 4, and Norfork plays Calico Rock at 5:30.
The 1A-1 District Softball Tournament will also be held at Jasper’s Bradley Park. Ozark Mountain will be matched up with the Lady Pirates at 4:00 with the winner facing Omaha in the semifinals at 7. The other semifinal will pair Lead Hill with Deer at 5:30.
Melbourne will also host the 2A-3 District Tournament for softball. Salem takes on Rector at 4, and the Lady Bearkatz play Riverside at 6:30.
