MHHS baseball team travels to Rogers Friday

Baseball and softball make up much of the local Friday schedule.

The Mountain Home High School baseball team will be on the road as they meet Rogers. The varsity game begins at 5 p.m. followed by the junior varsity contest.
The 2A-1 District Baseball Tournament will be held at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. Cotter faces Yellville-Summit, and Flippin takes on Decatur. Both games will be at 4:00, and the winners will compete for the title at 6:30.
After Thursday’s rainout, the 1A-2 District Tournament will be made up at Izard County High School in Brockwell. Viola and Calico Rock will begin at 4:00, Norfork plays the host Cougars at 6:00, and the winners will square off for the championship at 8:00.
The 1A-1 District Tournament will make up its opening games at Bradley Park in Jasper. Lead Hill will get underway at 11:00 against Deer, and Ozark Mountain faces Alpena at 1:00.
Mammoth Spring will try again to begin hosting the 1A-3 District Tournament. The Bears will take on Crowley’s Ridge Academy at 3:30 at Mammoth Spring State Park.
The semifinals of the 2A-3 District Tournament will be held Friday at Melbourne after Thursday’s postponement. Salem plays the first game at 4:00 against Riverside, and the host Bearkatz will be paired with Bay at 6:30.
Valley Springs will return to Clinton looking to secure a third place finish in the 3A-1 District Tournament. It will be a battle between Tigers as Valley Springs faces Green Forest at 6:30.
In other high school baseball, Bakersfield hosts Willow Springs, and Dora travels to Houston.

The 2A-1 District Softball Tournament is also set for Friday in Harrison. Cotter, Flippin, Yellville-Summit and Decatur will be vying for the district championship.
The 1A-2 District Tournament will also make up its softball games Friday at Izard County. Viola takes on the host Lady Cougars at 4:00, Norfork plays Calico Rock at 5:30, and the championship game is at 7:00.
The 1A-1 District Softball Tournament will also begin a day late at Jasper’s Bradley Park. Ozark Mountain will be matched up with the host Lady Pirates at 2:30, and Lead Hill will face Deer at 4:00.
The semifinals of the 2A-3 District Softball Tournament will be made up at Melbourne. Salem takes on Rector at 4:00, and the Lady Bearkatz play Riverside at 6:30.
The 3A-1 East District Softball Tournament will come to an end at Clinton. Valley Springs will compete for the title at 4:00 against Rose Bud, and the third place game will be a battle between Lady Yellowjackets as Mountain View faces Clinton at 6:30.
Mountain Home’s junior varsity squad will be across the state line for a matchup with Winona. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:00.
