MHHS baseball team gets road win over Rogers

The Mountain Home High School baseball team went on the road and picked up a 5-3 win at Rogers on Friday. Satch Harris came on in relief to get the victory with 2 1/3 innings, one strikeout and one walk, and Luke Jackson pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to get the save. Luke Dibble led the Bomber offense with four base hits, and Garrett Steelman and Josh Prinner also had multi-hit performances. Mountain Home had a total of 13 base hits on the day.

Flippin finished the week by capturing the 2A-1 district championship at Harrison. The tournament began with Cotter falling to Yellville-Summit 10-7, and the Bobcats beat up on Decatur 11-3. Flippin later defeated the Panthers 14-6 in the title game.

Viola ended up as the champions of the 1A-2 District Tournament at Izard County High School in Brockwell. The Longhorns first topped Calico Rock 15-0, and after Izard County beat Norfork in the other semifinal, Viola grabbed the 11-4 victory over the Cougars.

Mammoth Spring dominated its opener in the 1A-3 District Tournament. The Bears shut out Crowley’s Ridge Academy at Mammoth Spring State Park. Mammoth Spring improves to 10-11 on the season.

Salem ended up losing its only game in the 2A-3 District Tournament at Melbourne. The top-seeded Greyhounds were edged out by Riverside 5-4.

Flippin also won the 2A-1 district title on the softball side. In the semifinals at Harrison, Cotter defeated Yellville-Summit 13-6, and the Lady Bobcats blanked Decatur 16-0. The championship game ended with the Lady Warriors losing to Flippin 16-1.

Viola’s softball team won the 1A-2 District Tournament at Brockwell. In semifinal action, Norfork fell to Calico Rock 19-0, and the Lady Longhorns beat Izard County 15-0. Viola later turned around and topped the Lady Pirates 10-0.

Salem advanced to the title game of the 2A-3 District Softball Tournament. The Lady Greyhounds shut out Rector 2-0.

Valley Springs fell short of the 3A-1 East district championship. The Lady Tigers lost to Rose Bud 13-0. Mountain View squeaked by Clinton 9-8 in the third place game.
