Baseball and softball dominate the local Thursday schedule as regional tournaments begin in Arkansas.
Flippin will be the designated host school for the Class 2A North Regional Baseball Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. Today’s games have already been postponed until Friday.
Viola will be the site for the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament. Mammoth Spring and Calico Rock get underway at 10 a.m., Izard County plays Hillcrest at 12:30, Viola will be paired with Ridgefield Christian at 3 and Norfork meets Armorel at 5:30.
The Class 1A Region 1 Baseball Tournament will be held at Scranton. Ozark Mountain will get the action started at 10 against County Line, Jasper faces Western Yell County at 12:30, Omaha takes on Mulberry at 3 and Lead Hill plays Scranton at 5:30.
Two area baseball teams will be in McCrory to begin the Class 2A North Regional Tournament. Salem will be matched up with East Poinsett County at 12:30, and Melbourne meets McCrory at 3.
Valley Springs heads to West For for the start of the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament. The Tigers face Lincoln at 12:30.
Harrison goes to Farmington for its opener in the Class 4A North Regional Tournament. The Goblins take on Clarksville at 5:30.
In other high school baseball, Bakersfield hosts Mountain View-Liberty.
