With The Who‘s Moving On! tour kicking off this Tuesday in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the rock legends have posted a video on their official YouTube channel showing them rehearsing for the trek “somewhere in the U.S.A.”

The two-and-a-half-minute clip shows Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and company running through a few of the band’s songs — “5:15” and “The Punk and the Godfather” from Quadrophenia, and “See Me, Feel Me,” from Tommy.

The Who’s official blogger, Brian Kehew [KEE-hyoo], who shot the video, also has posted an online report about the rehearsals and the tour, which will feature the band playing with a different orchestra at each venue.

Kehew notes that this trek will be different from any of the group’s previous treks.

“Most of the music in the coming concerts will be accompanied by a full-size symphony orchestra,” he points out, adding that “[a]ll the guitar, bass and keyboard rigs are redone/new for this tour, for new sounds and to bring the volume into balance with what the orchestra will play.”

Brian also says Zak Starkey‘s “new drum set is totally different to anything we’ve had before.”

According to Kehew, the shows will offer “some serious surprises,” both big and little, and he promises that “if you’ve seen The Who over a hundred times in your life, this show will be different, and spectacular and beautiful in ways you have never seen.”

He adds, “It will still be rocking, still be The Who as you know it; raw energy, beauty and lightness, power, joy — those unusual combinations of flavors that make up a Who night.”
