Area baseball, softball teams have mixed results Saturday in regionals

The Cotter High School baseball team watched its season come to an end Saturday in the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. The Warriors fell to Lavaca 10-4.
Flippin will be the Golden Arrows’ next opponent in Sunday’s semifinals. The Bobcats secured a state tournament bid as they defeated Mountainburg 7-3.
Yellville-Summit was one and done in the tournament. The Panthers lost to Danville by a final of 6-1.

Ozark Mountain was eliminated from the opener of the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at Scranton. The Patriots fell to County Line 11-0.
Lead Hill suffered the same fate as Ozark Mountain. The Tigers lost to Scranton by a score of 11-1.
Omaha will be the Rockets’ opponent in the semifinals on Monday. The Eagles routed Mulberry 17-1.
Jasper was also able to clinch a state tournament berth. The Pirates topped Western Yell County 12-8.

The semifinals of the Class 1A Region 2 Baseball Tournament had to be moved to McClain Park in Mountain Home on Saturday.
Viola dominated its way to the title game. The Longhorns pounded Armorel by a count of 12-2.
Mammoth Spring was sent to the third place game after losing to Izard County 9-2. The Bears fall to 13-12 on the season.

Salem lost its semifinal game in the Class 2A North Regional Tournament at Marked Tree. The Greyhounds were edged out by Bay 10-9 and will compete for third place on Monday.

Harrison finished in third place in the Class 4A North Regional Tournament at Farmington. The Goblins began the day by falling to Pottsville 5-0 in the semifinals, but they later shut out Morrilton 10-0 in the consolation game.

The Class 2A West Regional Softball Tournament got underway Saturday in Harrison.
Cotter’s season came to an end in the first game on Wood Motor Field. The Lady Warriors fell to Danville 17-3.
Flippin was also bounced from the opening round of the tournament. The Lady Bobcats lost to Hector 4-1.
Yellville-Summit was also one and done on Saturday. The Lady Panthers fell to Lavaca 16-1.

Viola advanced to the championship contest of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament after Saturday’s semifinals were moved to Mountain Home. The Lady Longhorns beat Armorel 4-1.
Calico Rock was sent to the tournament’s third place game. The Lady Pirates lost to Hillcrest 9-8.

Melbourne lost its semifinal game in the Class 2A North Regional Tournament at Marked Tree. The Lady Bearkatz were edged out by East Poinsett County 2-1.

Jasper was eliminated from the Class 1A Region 1 Softball Tournament at Scranton. The Lady Pirates fell to the host Lady Rockets 18-1.
