RhinoIn conjunction with the Woodstock festival’s upcoming 50th anniversary, a humongous limited-edition box set featuring every recorded performance from the historic event will be released on August 2.
Woodstock: Back to the Garden — The Definitive 50th Anniversary Archive features 38 CDs and 432 tracks, running nearly 36 hours. 267 of those tracks of which are previously unreleased.
In addition to the performances, the collection will offer various stage announcements and speeches that took place during the festival, including Max Yasgur‘s famous address to the hundreds of thousands people camped out on his farm in Bethel, New York.
The Back to the Garden box set is priced at just under $800 and only 1,969 numbered copies will be available. The collection also features a Blu-ray of the Director’s Cut of the Oscar-winning 1970 Woodstock documentary, a copy of a new book by festival co-founder Michael Lang, a replica of the original concert program, posters, photo prints, a guitar strap like the one Jimi Hendrix used during his Woodstock set, and more.
Meanwhile, less-expansive versions of Back to the Garden will be released on June 28. Back to the Garden — 50th Anniversary Experience is a 10-CD, 162-track package that’s the first collection to feature live performances from every artist who played the festival.
Back to the Garden — 50th Anniversary Collection is a 42-track set available as three-CD and five-LP vinyl sets. A digital version of the 10-disc package also will be released. You can pre-order all versions at Rhino.com/Woodstock50.
Among the many stars that performed at Woodstock: Hendrix, The Who, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Santana, The Grateful Dead, Sly and the Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane and The Band.
