Area athletes to compete in Meet of Champions at Lake Hamilton

The high school track season extends for one more day for several area athletes on Saturday. The Arkansas Activities Association’s annual Meet of Champions will be held at Lake Hamilton High School in Pearcy.

Mountain Home will be represented by five athletes on the boys’ side as Lance Lee competes in the pole vault, and the team of Bob Allen, Jacob Lewis, Tyler Sosnowski and Andrew Westphal will take part in the 4×800-meter relay. Also on the boys’ side, Hayden Vanderpool of Harrison will be in the shot put, Western Grove’s Hunter Baker will be featured in the 400-meter dash, and Western Grove will also have a team in the 4×400-meter relay.

In girls’ action, Mackynzie Rangel of Norfork will compete in the discus throw, Madi Hopson of Flippin will take part in the 800-meter run, and Mammoth Spring’s Lauren Mitchell and Melbourne’s Kenley McCarn will be in the 300-meter hurdles. Also for Melbourne, Audra Blevins will be among those in the pole vault, and the team of Kiley Webb, Kate Provence, Melanie Gardner and Josie Roark will be featured in the 4×800-meter relay. For Rural Special, Kamryn Sutterfield will compete in the shot put, and Abbey Linville will take part in the 3200-meter run. In addition, Ella Brandt will represent Harrison in the high jump, and Omaha will have a team in the 4×100-meter relay.

Action will get underway at 1 p.m.
