Bakersfield falls, other area teams win Monday in district play

Two local high school baseball teams began action in the Class 1, District 4 Tournament Monday at Dora.
Bakersfield watched its season come to an end in the opening game as they fell to Koshkonong 5-2. The Lions’ final record is 5-11.
Top-seeded Dora was the Blue Jays’ next opponent in the semifinals as they picked up a 15-0 shutout victory. The host Falcons improve to 19-2 on the year.

Gainesville won its opener in the Class 2, District 5 Tournament at Seymour. The Bulldogs edged out Spokane 6-5. Gainesville is now 10-11 on the season.

Hollister knocked off the top seed in the semifinals of the Class 4, District 11 Tournament in front of their home crowd. The Tigers upset Aurora 5-1. Hollister’s record improves to 17-9.

Forsyth also pulled off an upset victory in the semifinals of the Class 3, District 12 Tournament at Clever. The Panthers beat up top-seeded Marionville 13-6. Forsyth is now 8-14 on the year.

Ava began the postseason with a victory in the Class 3, District 11 Tournament at Fair Grove. The Bears topped Hartville by a final of 4-1. Ava improves to 15-5 on the season.
