Sixers bringing back Brown as head coach

Ben Solomon/ESPN Images(NEW YORK) —  Amid uncertainty surrounding the future of 76ers head coach Brett Brown’s time in Philadelphia, managing partner Josh Harris has set the record straight.

Harris told ESPN on Monday night that Brown will return as the Sixers head coach next year for his seventh season.

Brown met with Harris and GM Elton Brand on Monday  to discuss plans for the franchise’s upcoming offseason. Philadelphia must decide which free agents on their roster to re-sign, including key pieces Jimmy Butler, Tobias Harris and J.J. Redick.

The Sixers owe Brown nearly $15 million on a contract extension, set to start next season.

Recently, Joel Embiid voiced support for Brown remaining as coach after the 76ers Game 7 loss to the Raptors in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
