The Who unveils support acts for second leg of Moving On! tour; announces new L.A. show

Credit: Samir HusseinThe Who has announced the opening acts for the second North American leg of their Moving On! tour, which kicks off with a September 3 concert in Toronto.  That show that recently was moved from June 1.

Among the artists that will be supporting The Who on select dates of the upcoming leg of the trek are J. Geils Band singer Peter Wolf, ex-Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, hard-rockers Reignwolf and folk-rock act Dead Horses. Wolf and Reignwolf are also part of the lineup of openers on the current leg of the Who’s tour.

The new shows at which Wolf will perform are scheduled for September 10 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and September 13 in Boston. Gallagher is confirmed to open four West Coast concerts, among them a just-announced October 24 performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

The Who has two other Hollywood Bowl gigs on its itinerary, on October 11 and 13. Tickets for the new concert at the famous venue will go on sale to the general public this Friday, May 17, at 12 p.m. local time via LiveNation.com. Who fan club members can purchase pre-sale tickets now at Ticketmaster.com.

In other news, the band’s previously announced October 23 concert at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Canada, has been canceled, according to Ticketmaster.ca.

The Who’s Moving On! trek features the group accompanied by a different orchestra at each stop. The first leg kicked off May 7 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is plotted out through a May 30 show in Pittsburgh. The band’s next performance takes place this Thursday, May 16, in Nashville.
