Mountain Home’s Friday Night Block Party series continues Friday evening on the courthouse square. This week’s headliner is KickinKountry. Music and activities will begin at 7, and admittance is free.

KickinKountry is a honky-tonk dance band playing a little bit of everything. The band has been in existence for nearly 20 years and has opened for Asleep at the Wheel, the Bellamy Brothers, Dan Seals, Narvel Felts, Judge Parker, Daryl Singletary, Jeff Carson, Rhett Akins, Chad Brock and others. They also play some original music.

KickinKountry’s vocals are provided by lead guitarist Duane Hoppis, rhythm guitarist Russell Joyner and drummer Ronda Harp. Other band members include J.R. “Gene” Massengale on the bass guitar and Gary Van Meter on the steel guitar.

This week’s block party is sponsored by the Donald W. Reynolds Library and the Friends of the Baxter County Library.

A number of food vendors will be on hand selling their specialties, including barbecue, tacos, homemade cream soda, cupcakes, funnel cakes, kettle corn and lemonade, and the Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society will be selling ice cream sundaes.

All attendees will have a chance to win door prizes during the band’s intermission.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs when they come out to enjoy what has become a summer tradition.
