Wildfire suppression kits issued to local fire departments



The Arkansas Forestry Commission’s Rural Fire Program received $237,000 from the U.S. Forest Service to purchase and distribute wildfire suppression kits to volunteer fire departments across the state in 2019. The local fire departments to receive the kits include Buford, Calico Rock, Oxford, Mammoth Spring and Ash FlatLocal volunteer fire departments are the primary partner to AFC crews in suppressing wildfires, but they often need specialized equipment and gear necessary for safe wildfire suppression.
