A Mountain Home man was arrested Monday after a homeowner on County Road 1159 found him in her residence. Thirty-eight-year-old William Cobb is in the Baxter County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
A Baxter County deputy was dispatched to the residence and located Cobb in the back seat of an SUV. Cobb admitted the vehicle wasn’t his, and he didn’t know its owner. The homeowner later told the deputy she heard Cobb in her residence and didn’t know him.
The victim’s husband later arrived and found Cobb allegedly went through the kitchen cabinets and their mail. It wasn’t known if anything was missing at the time, but it appeared Cobb had brought a large rock in the kitchen.
Another deputy spoke with a neighbor who reportedly said she observed Cobb enter the residence. The responding deputy stated Cobb appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic and didn’t make sense when he was questioned.
Cobb faces felony counts of residential burglary and breaking or entering and a misdemeanor count of second-degree criminal mischief.
