A fire at a North Arkansas Electric Cooperative substation in southern Mountain Home early Friday morning has caused a major power outage that at one time knocked out power to all of the city. The outage could last more than 24 hours for NAEC customers. As of 5:40, the outage is affecting nearly 1,200 customers of NAEC while Entergy has restored power to all customers in Baxter County.  At one time, the Sheid Hopper Bypass was shutdown but it has been reopened.

Mel Coleman, CEO of North Arkansas Electric, has this update on what happened.
