Father, son arrested on drug, weapon charges

A father and son were taken into custody June 4, following a visit to a residence in southern Baxter County by officers from the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force and the Arkansas Department of Correction's Fugitive Recovery Team.

According to affidavits filed Tuesday, officers entered the residence along County Road 126 where they discovered 29-year-old Keith Allen Richardson of Calico Rock sleeping in the living room. An AR-180 with a full magazine and a round chambered in the rifle was within arm's reach of the sleeping man.

Richardson is on felony probation with a search waiver on file.

During a search of the master bedroom, numerous firearms and drug paraphernalia were allegedly in plain view. A small bag containing a white crystal substance, later field testing positive for methamphetamine, was discovered in a jewelry box.

Richardson's father, 49-year-old Larry Richardson, who also has a Calico Rock address, said the bedroom and the items found in it were his. A female, identified as Larry Richardson's girlfriend, was also at the residence. Larry Richardson reportedly insisted the weapons, narcotics and paraphernalia were his.

Keith Richardson has been charged with a felony count of possession of firearms by certain persons, meaning he is a convicted felon. His bond was set at $5,000.

Larry Richardson has been charged with two felony-level drug-related offenses, as well as simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.

His bond was set at $10,000.
