
An ordinance to establish an entertainment district in Mountain Home’s historic district will be before the city council Thursday evening for its second reading. The city council will meet in regular session at 6 in the Municipal Building. The ordinance is the sole item of business on the agenda.The ordinance was introduced earlier this month and placed on its first reading. However, it did not secure a sufficient number of votes for further advancement during the June 6 meeting.Recently passed legislation allows the establishment of entertainment districts under certain restrictions where outdoor drinking is permitted. Senate bill 492, now known as Act 812 Act 812, narrowly passed both chambers in early April.
Earlier, Mountain Home Mayor Hillrey Adams says the law is restrictive, allowing for an entertainment district to be created within the boundaries of a historic commercial district.
