A second suspect in the alleged beating of a Gassville man has been arrested. Nineteen-year-old Jonathan Cole Smith of Mountain Home was arrested Sunday afternoon. He was one of three people who allegedly beat a Gassville man and stole items from his house. Steve Niziol was arrested last week for the incident, while authorities are still searching for Jessica Wuest. Smith was arrested by the Arkansas State Police in Izard County on a failure to appear warrant, taken to the Izard County Jail and then transferred to the Baxter County Detention Center.

According to the probable cause affidavit in the case, the victim told police he was working in the yard and went inside his house where he was attacked by two men who reportedly took his wallet and phone. He says he was taken to a shed on his property where one of the men held him while the other two suspects hooked up his trailer to their vehicle and began loading his property onto it.

Smith has been charged with eight felonies, including kidnapping, aggravated robbery, theft of property, terroristic threatening, possession of firearms by a certain person, meaning he is a convicted felon, theft of a firearm, battery in the first degree and residential burglary. He is being held without bond in the Baxter County Detention Center.
